Djurra Spa & Salon: a little piece of heaven

Preparing to get married takes a lot of energy. A huge amount of organisation, time and planning goes into what is one of the biggest days in a girl’s life. I am less than three months away from tying the knot and feeling pretty calm. Everything is either locked in or under control, I’ve had a smooth ride with the bridesmaids from heaven, a mum who has been the best advisor and voice of reason and a fiancé who just wants me to have a beautiful day. So what to do for the rest of the year besides attend dress fittings and drink champagne with my bridesmaids? Get pampered in a day spa, that’s what.

Last weekend I was treated to what can only be described as one of the most indulgent experiences of my life. Djurra Spa and Salon is a little piece of heaven located on High Street Fremantle that features a super stylish hair salon and day spa offering everything from relaxing waxing, massage, facials and exclusive body treatments. On the day of my treatment I pass through the très cool hair salon (which I highly recommend also!) and enter the serene world of the spa. I am invited into the relaxation lounge where I am asked to switch off my mobile phone (with great pleasure!) and sip on herbal tea before I am whisked away into the treatment room.

My therapist Michelle asks me to put on a white fluffy robe and take a seat. The treatment begins with a foot exfoliation, which after months of winter boots and heels – is desperately needed! Following this, I am then led to the massage table where I’m asked to select an essential oil for my treatment. I selected ylang ylang, a beautifully fragrant essential oil that has a calming effect on the mind and body.

The next part of the treatment features an invigorating and energising full body scrub. My skin felt so rejuvenated and refreshed after being smoothed with salt and Caribbean cane sugar, coconut, avocado and passion fruit oils – divine! This was then followed by a warm seaweed body and foot masque (on top of the body scrub) which felt amazing! Michelle applied a warm oil first and then smoothed the masque onto my skin. I was then wrapped in a warm cocoon of towels and then given a heavenly scalp and facial massage. This was possibly by far the most relaxing part, I almost nodded off once or twice! All stress and tension just floated away with this gentle and restorative massage.

Following this, I jumped into a warm shower to rinse off the seaweed body masque and returned to the bed for a full body massage to complete this idyllic treatment. Getting up off the bed to go back out into reality wasn’t easy, I could have stayed there all day in my post therapy bliss.

If you are looking for a little indulgence or need some serious relaxation then I would highly recommend the Caribbean Therapy Body Treatment at Djurra Spa & Salon. It is the ultimate stress soother and left me floating on a cloud for the rest of the weekend.

A shiny situation

Have you got a bit of a shiny situation happening? Never fear, I’ve got you covered.

Last weekend I paid a visit to The Body Shop in search of a new foundation and powder having noticed that my current products just aren’t cutting it in terms of controlling shine and oil. The incredibly helpful young lady who served me knew my struggle and prescribed the following lifesavers that I now use daily and swear by.

It goes without saying that preparing your skin is vital to controlling shine. Morning and night I cleanse with Go-To Properly Clean, followed by Jurlique’s Purely Age Defying Refining Treatment. I use this completely natural skin polishing refiner 3 times a week to gently remove dull, dead skin cells and uncover fresh, glowing skin. Under makeup, I apply Arbonne’s Makeup Primer, which is a silky smooth primer that visually diminishes fine lines and pores, creating a canvas for flawless makeup application. My new regime now includes Moisture Foundation SPF 15 and All-In-One™ Face Base, both from The Body Shop.
